Club Endorsed HMI Application
Club Endorsed HMI application Lodgement (Step 3)
Here the club can upload the endorsed HMI Form003 and applicant resume for Heavy Model Inspector (HMI) for FW25 or RW25.
It is important that you read and understand the following information.
As this applies to both the applicant and the club committee as required under MOP006 and there is an expectation that all stakeholders clearly understand their obligations under this MOP.
It is recommended that the potential applicant talk to their supporting club first to confirm the clubs need for an HMI and the applicant’s overall experience and suitability in relation to the criteria under the MOP’s.
Having said that, we specifically draw your attention to:
Applicants Criteria
This is set out in items 6.1 to 6.3 of MOP006.
Club committee Obligations
It is very important that the Club committee understands their obligations under items 7.1 to 7.5 and to clarify, the committee is confirming that the information is true and correct to best of their knowledge over that five year period.
The Process
Step 1. The process starts with the applicant understanding MOP006 and then filling out the form below for the Expression of Interest to become a HMI. This then records the interest shown by the applicant and officially advises the applicant and the club committee of the process and their obligations under this application process. https://www.vmaa.com.au/club-endorsed-hmi-application/
Step 2. The applicant builds their resume online using the following link VMAA website. This resume builder has been put in place to standardise the process and remove any doubt about what is required and in turn speeds up the process. A copy this resume will be sent to the applicant and the President and Secretary of the Club.
Step 3. The committee reviews the resume, determines that there is a need and that the applicant can meet that need, confirms the 5 years of experience, including positive building and flying outcomes, and that all the information is true and correct. Upon agreeing to support the application by the committee, the committee signs Form MAAA003 and then lodges the application online at the following link to the VMAA as per item 7.5 of the MOP.
Step 4. Initial Assessment of the application is made by the VMAA
Step 5. Suitable Applicants will be invited to take the HMI quiz
Step 6. Attend an appointment with a nominated HMI for trial inspector test and training.
Step 7. HMI application endorsement at the VMAA state level
Step 8. HMI application endorsement by the MAAA
Step 9. The MAAA advises the Applicant and the VMAA of the outcome
