Hello Fellow Aeromodellers,
The new VMAA committee is already working well together to improve the association’s services to the member clubs. As all the positions are volunteer-based, we are all doing our best to make time to deliver some new initiatives in the near future. Some of the improvements or new ideas are easily identified, however, as participants in this great sport, feel free to provide feedback that can assist the VMAA in its duties and responsibilities to the member clubs.
Here is a quick update on what the new VMAA Committee has been up to since the AGM:
- The new VMAA website is being populated with content. Please check the links to your club to ensure everything is correct. VMAA | Victorian Model Aeronautical Association
- Our meeting minutes and financial reports will be available to all members on the website shortly.
- We will be asking all clubs to supply their event dates so we can add them to the website. (This format will be improved soon)
- The committee is currently in the process of reviewing our constitution and rules to bring them in line with the model rules, but still relevant to the structure and purpose of the association.
- Very soon we’ll be launching new VMAA Facebook and Instagram pages to promote club activities and share updates. Follow us to stay connected!
- A Heavy Model Inspector (FW25) training package is being developed to streamline the process of becoming a FW25 inspector. If you have 5 years of experience constructing and flying FW25 aircraft, please consider applying to become an inspector.
- Pamphlets with information about your club will be produced for distribution at information centres and community events. These will be produced in consultation with your club. The aim of this is to promote your club and increase membership. There will be a simple application form on the website – coming soon.
- To all of our instructors, there is no longer a requirement to recertify your qualification. This means that once you have been certified as an instructor, your qualification will remain valid indefinitely. This change is intended to reduce the administrative burden on our instructors and allow them to focus more on teaching and less on paperwork.
- VMAA Committee members are going to be attending clubs across the state in the coming year to have a fly and talk about local issues.
- Don’t forget the Twin Cities 40th Anniversary Seaplane Float Fly this weekend (4-6 October) (9) Seaplane Float Fly – 40th Anniversary | Facebook
- The second VMAA Festival of Flight event will be held at Bairnsdale the following weekend (2-3 November) (9) Festival of Flight | Facebook
I look forward to meeting you all soon.
Regards,
Tony
