| Committee Update- June 2026 |
| Hello Members, What a busy couple of months it’s been. The MAAA Council Conference is now behind us, and I have been involved with organising and running the Mid-May Muster at Bairnsdale last weekend. MAAA Conference Summary Anton and I attended the conference representing the VMAA. Here is a summary of outcomes for the MAAA Conference held on Saturday, 16 May 2026. Key items of discussion included: FINANCES 2026/2027 MAAA fees remain unchanged with Seniors: $80 and Juniors: $15 MAAA CLUB ASSISTANCE SCHEME There are two parts to this discussion. Firstly, the VMAA had 7 clubs apply for the MAAA CAS in 2026, which was great to see. Three clubs will receive funding based on their submissions. Just under $100,000 was committed to clubs across the country for their projects. It was also decided that, for FY’28 CAS applications, the amount will be increased to a maximum of $10,000 + GST per club. Later this year, a club infrastructure grant program will be introduced, allowing clubs to apply for larger amounts of funding for major projects. This funding must be matched by the states and will be ratified at quarterly council meetings, so clubs will no longer need to wait until the May conference. MAAA ELECTIONS AND APPOINTMENTS MAAA Vice President: The newly elected MAAA Vice President is Tony Wilson. The only other role to be filled was the MAAA Safety Manager position. No nominations were received; accordingly, the MAAA Executive will appoint someone to hold the role until the next AGM in 2027. CIAM Delegate: Joe Finocchiaro continues in this role ASAC Delegate: MAAA President. MAAA Vice President in the absence of the MAAA President Public Officer Role: Neil Tank MOP RATIFICATIONS MOP23: Commercial Instructors- remove reference to commercial instructor fee MOP 57: Policy insurance conditions- addition of limitations on Personal Accident Policy. MEMBERSHIP SYSTEM The Member Jungle project has ceased fully. At this point, the existing MAAA Database will be used to manage National, State and Club memberships until a suitable membership application is identified. MAAA MARKETING PROPOSAL Mark Penno (ANSW President) presented a marketing plan to the council. It was primarily aimed at member retention. Most states were on board, but we were a little dubious considering the $100k cost. His presentation will be rolled out to all clubs for comment. VMAA Marketing Our own marketing plan is still underway. The biggest message I want to convey is: “Please be welcoming to potential members, as first impressions matter” FROM THE VMAA REGISTRAR The President has included the Membership fees set by the VMAA and the MAAA in this newsletter. The good news is, there is no change from last year. Clubs can now set their club fees for the 2026-27 financial year and notify their club members. The MAAA register is not yet open to accept Registrations for the 2026-27 FY. I will notify all clubs when it is open and ready to accept Registrations. It’s a good time of the year for Club Registrars or Secretaries to alert all their club members to check that their own personal information is correct in the Register. All member cards will be emailed to members, so if email addresses are incorrect, the cards will not reach the member. If any club needs help updating its information or has any other Register-related queries, contact me. I will be more than happy to help.
